The Story of the Tongue Fairy

The forgotten fairy.....

Almost everyone has heard of the Tooth Fairy but not many people have heard of the Tongue fairy.   In our story, the Tooth Fairy's name is Flossia and the tongue Fairy's name is Glossia.

Long ago and far away, there lived cousins who lived inside of a house.  This house is the face!

The Tooth Fairy takes care of the pretty white teeth and the Tongue Fairy is the guardian of the strong, pink tongue.  They work together to create a happy home for the parts of the Face that is the home for the 5 Face Dwarves whose names are as Eating, Drinking, Breathing, Talking and Smiling.

The Tongue Fairy and the Tooth Fairy work together to make a happy home for the 5 Dwarves.

The Tongue Fairy needs your help!  By having fun and doing your Magic Motions, Funny Functions and Silly Sounds, the Tongue Fairy gets the energy and strength that she needs to make a happy FACE!

Every fairy has a magic wand.

The Tongue Fairy can use all of the help that she can get to help the tongue to do what it is supposed to do.

The Magic Wand known as the ALF appliance helps the tongue to remember how to do its job.  It is a delicate little wire with a big, important job.  The ALF guides the tongue into the perfect place to allow the tongue to do the job of perfectly living in the Face.    No other dental device works as well to gently guide the tongue and arrange the teeth to create a big, beautiful smile and healthy, balanced face.  The reason that the ALF Magic Wand is so powerful is that it is powered by the tongue!

How the program works

Supporting our kids with fun reminders to "do the right thing"

Parents and kids have always searched for ways to reward good behavior .  Parents often need helpers.

Throughout the years, we have enjoyed the fun and creative support from Elf of a Shelf.  The Tongue Fairy is another very helpful friend of the parent trying to help their kids have better oral function.

The Tongue Fairy is placed throughout the house, cars and anywhere you travel to encourage the child to do their magic motions,  funny functions and silly sounds as carefully directed by your therapy team.  The Reward Card is maintained by the parent and brought with the child to their therapy and dental/orthodontic appointments to allow them to choose prizes and receive public support with the office celebration station.

  1. The child will pick out and name their own helper fairy to help Glossia the Tongue Fairy
  2. The therapist (a provider with specialized training in orofacial myology/oromyofunctional therapy) will assign a customized treatment plan based on the child's needs assessment that will be detailed on the Reward Card.
  3. Stickers will be provided to decorate the Reward Card to be able to show the progress and determine their experience at the celebration station.
  4. When the child returns to the dental or orthodontic office for their progress assessment, they will receive points on their Reward Card for their new tongue skills and cooperation in doing their exercises!
